HENDO’S IN AFRICA
Well, here goes another attempt to update you all on what has been going on over here in Kenya since arriving in Nairobi about 4 weeks ago! While it kind of feels like it has taken awhile for us to start being involved in things it’s exciting to see the doors that have been opening up for us to serve. In the first few weeks that we have been here we have decided to put the girls in a Montessori holiday program to open ourselves up to be able to serve. It has been interesting and challenging but good to have the time alone and to help out.
Bryan has started teaching his Hebrews Bible College class and has been trying, on most of his days off to study. As well as Bible College and men’s ministry he has had numerous opportunities to teach. The Lord provided a neat opportunity through a friend Paul, in Newcastle, to meet William the pastor of a slum Baptist church. His Church which is located in one of the slums operates two slum schools, so we were able to visit both, at which both the girls were mobbed! Bry taught devotions for the high school and he was also blessed to be able to teach at the Church. It has been a blessing to get to know William and his wife Grace.
As well as all the teaching that’s been going on we have been able to get involved in a ministry called Hope House which is a home for unwanted or mother offered adoption babies. It is very sad to see these kids and Bry and I want to bring them all home....... there is only 19 of them!! The age of the kids ranges from 2 weeks to three years. Hope House is suffering financially however and are in desperate need of finances to look after these kids and pay their staff. While we don’t like to ask for money, how can you all know the need if we don’t let you know, these guys need help. If you want to make a donation to their cause please email us and let us know, the money will go directly to them. (bryan_tara@hotmail.com).
In Kenya and Nairobi specifically there is so much need. Everywhere you turn there is someone else that could use your help physically and financially so it has to be the Lord that guides. So please pray about it and let us know.
As well as Hope House I have been helping out at the Church with preparing the sewing ministry for the women. The women have to attend Bible study and then after study they are able to sew sequins onto a shawl which is then sent to America to be sold. Each woman receives a certain amount of money per shawl to help them provide for their family. It is a neat ministry for helping these women out and also hearing the word of God.

The Lord has blessed us with so many friendships with the Kenyan people here, we are loving just being among the people and being open to what the Lord has for us. While at times it’s hard and we want to come home, we know the Lord has us here and so it’s easier to get through the hard times. We have a few more opportunities possibly opening up over the next few weeks so next blog hopefully we can update you on those.
Prayer requests: We need to find an apartment over here but it’s very expensive! Please pray that we find one within our price range very soon because we have to be out of our place by Thurs.
Praise the Lord for bringing us here, we are so blessed. Thanks for all your support and prayers, Bryan, Tara, Lillika and Rafi
